South Australia is a centre of excellence in providing world class sports medicine services to elite athletes and active people of all ages.


The State's sports medicine and allied health professionals are world class and include Dr Brian Sando, the Australian Olympic Team doctor and 'drugs in sport' expert.

Services range through diagnosis, treatment, orthopaedic surgery, prevention, education and rehabilitation. These are delivered through sports medicine clinics offering a 'one stop shop' for athletes and the general community which are unique and world class; and through purpose built hospitals providing the full suite of sports medicine services and specialising in orthopaedic surgery.

Sports Medicine Australia is the peak organisation with a multi-disciplinary membership providing active community education programs to educate the sporting community on injury prevention and safe sporting policies.
